Why Choose KJD Elevate?

You’re not looking for generic “career coaching.” You’re looking for someone who understands the pressure of live transactions, demanding stakeholders and law firm politics — and can help you navigate all of that without burning out.

At KJD Elevate, coaching is built specifically for lawyers and finance professionals in high‑stakes environments, so every conversation is grounded in the reality you work in every day.

A coach who is still in the arena

I am a senior corporate lawyer and accredited executive coach, working as a senior consultant at Ignition Law while running KJD Elevate.

That means when you talk about late‑night completions, board packs, stakeholder politics or client demands that keep moving, you are speaking to someone who is living those pressures alongside you—not recalling them from a past life.

Because I still practise, I understand how today’s billable targets, hybrid working, regulatory scrutiny and client expectations actually play out in UK firms and high‑growth businesses right now.

Deep corporate and ESG perspective

My legal practice has focused on public and private M&A, joint ventures, international reorganisations, corporate governance and advising fast‑growth, entrepreneurial businesses across sectors including technology, defence, financial institutions, insurance and energy.

I also bring specialist experience in ESG — helping organisations embed environmental, social and governance considerations into strategy, decision‑making and reporting. I have also spent many years leading employee networks supporting the growth and role of women and ethnic minorities in the legal profession, and playing a leading role in the recruitment and retention of more diverse talent at all levels.

This lens shapes our coaching.

We do not just talk about “confidence” in the abstract; we explore how you show up in negotiations, client meetings, business development and internal meetings, how you influence complex stakeholders, and how you align your career decisions with the kind of leader you want to be.

Evidence‑based, commercially grounded coaching

Alongside legal practice, I trained with the Academy of Executive Coaching, meeting rigorous, internationally recognised standards in evidence‑based coaching psychology and professional ethics.

This underpins a structured, outcomes‑focused approach: sessions are designed to move you from insight to clear decisions, experiments and actions you can test immediately in your working week.

You can expect sessions that balance empathy with challenge — space to say the unsayable about work, combined with incisive questioning that gently but firmly calls out unhelpful patterns, assumptions and stories.

Built for ambitious lawyers and finance professionals

KJD Elevate specialises in working with:

  • Senior associates and counsel weighing up their next move

  • Lawyers deciding between partnership, in‑house roles or a pivot outside traditional practice

  • Technically strong lawyers who now need to lead, influence and build a book of business

  • Finance and professional services leaders facing similar pressure, visibility and politics

Common themes include clarifying whether partnership is right for you, building a credible business case and BD plan, leading people when you still feel like a peer, navigating organisational change, and creating a way of working that is sustainable without tanking performance.

Because I understand how law firms and professional services actually run — the economics, incentives, unofficial rules and “stars and strugglers” narratives — you don’t have to waste time explaining the basics.

How working together feels

Clients often say coaching with me feels like the one place in their week where they don’t have to perform.

You can be completely honest about ambition, fear, ego, politics, money and identity without worrying how it will land in a review or on your appraisal form.

My style is calm, straightforward and commercially aware: you can expect thoughtful listening, clear structure and practical challenge — along with a sense of humour and deep empathy.

What you walk away with

By the end of a coaching package, clients typically report:

  • Sharper clarity about their next move—whether that is partnership, in‑house, a different firm or a different path entirely

  • Greater confidence in high‑stakes conversations: pitches, partner meetings, board updates and difficult client discussions

  • Stronger boundaries and more sustainable ways of working that reduce firefighting and heroics

  • A clearer narrative about who they are as a leader and what they stand for

Most importantly, you leave with practical tools and ways of thinking you can use long after our work together ends — so you are not dependent on coaching, but equipped to lead your own career with intention.
